Programme Summary

An Apprenticeship Programme will not only provide you with extensive knowledge and experience in the fundamental principles of engineering, you will also explore several specialist areas to help you shape the direction of your studies for the remaining time on your programme and beyond.

Year 1

Your first year will be spent full time at the AMTC where you will complete the foundation skills training as well as starting the Level 3 knowledge based diploma. An outline of the modules you will be studying are as follows:

  • Health and safety
  • Business improvement techniques
  • Milling
  • Turning
  • Hand fitting
  • Electronic assembly
  • Electrical wiring
  • Fluid power
  • Design drawing
  • Mathematics for engineering
  • Electrical/mechanical principles
  • Metrology (measurement)

You will return to your company full time and you will start working towards your Level 3 competency based diploma. You will then return to MTC on a block
release basis to finish the Level 3 knowledge based diploma.

In your third year, you will remain in company full time working towards completion of the Level 3 competency diploma. You will also start preparing for the End Point Assessment.

  • Work-based competency diploma
  • End Point Assessment preparation

Your company will then discuss further opportunities with you to further your engineering career, examples of which are:

  • HNC
  • HND
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Other formal training

Following successful completion of the End Point Assessment, you will be qualified as an Engineering Technician with accreditation from a professional body (IMechE/IET).

Equipment and technology

At the AMTC, our workshops are fully equipped with the latest state-of-the-art machinery and technology.

Our training centre was built in 2015 and will provide you with working knowledge of DMG Mori Seiki CNC machines, Bosch Intelligent Automation, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, ABB (IRC5) robots, PLCs, Co-ordinate Measurement Machines, Hexagon Metrology equipment and Hexagon PC DMIS, GOM Systems, 3D Scanning and more.

You will be assessed in your competence in meeting the standards required by both the work placement and your Programme trainer.

What qualifications will I achieve?

The Lloyds Bank Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Programme consists of you completing the following:

Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation competence)

Level 2 Award for Foundation Phase Gateway Assessment

Level 3 Diploma in Advanced manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering – Product Design and Development Technician (Development Competence) Mechatronics Technician (Development Competence)
