Your role will be to provide design engineering capability to a variety of engineering activities and projects which have been assigned to Mecalac UK’s Design Engineering Centre.

Below are some of your main duties and responsibilities you will be doing on a day-to-day basis:

  • You will be supporting the conceptual development for new products.
  • You will participate in maintaining relevant engineering processes and procedures.
  • You will be supporting the identification of business opportunities.
  • You will be problem solving on existing products and product improvement.
  • You will be working alongside the customer on product development ensuring delivery of solutions to meet the customer’s requirements.
  • You will be actively participating in business unit improvement activities.

Our Design Engineers get involved in every aspect of developing a machine, from purchasing to line introduction. This apprenticeship will give exposure to designing full systems from mechanical to electrical to hydraulics aspects of the machines. Our apprentices will get the opportunity to gain experience in various departments including purchasing, quality, production and testing. This is an exceptional opportunity to gain a broad range of experiences and skills.

MTC Training eligibility: 5 GCSEs grades 9-4 / A*- C (or equivalent) including Maths and English Language or English Literature
