The spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) is an unprecedented global event that has caused widespread disruption to all areas of business. Following Government advice, we made the decision to close the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre with our trainers providing apprentices with virtual support to continue their learning.
With many businesses struggling in these difficult times, a number of our apprentices have faced redundancy and the possibility of being unable to complete their apprenticeships. To support our learners, the MTC has made offers to employ these apprentices following redundancy.
David Hughes MBE, Managing Director for the AMTC, said “I am delighted that we have been able to help our apprentices who have faced redundancy. By providing employment at the MTC, we have enabled them to continue their learning and finish their apprenticeships.”
The MTC is committed to supporting our apprentices and the manufacturing sector. Through employing the apprentices, we have ensured that they are able to develop the vital skills and experience to complete their apprenticeships, whilst supporting the future skills needed by local businesses that are central to the region’s economic success.
