Maintenance Engineer Apprentice

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, the role will include machine troubleshooting, assisting with machine set up and some machine minding as and when required, plus maintaining accurate data in our asset management system. You will work to maximise production efficiency through the reduction of unplanned and planned downtime and support production-related tasks. You will also have the opportunity to lead improvement projects.

The apprentice, depending on the skills set and how they fit into the team will go on to either become a full-time maintenance engineer within a production cell or become a digital manufacturing maintenance engineer within our smart factory lines.

In the last two years, we have continued with our ambitious process and people development programs whilst adapting to the challenges brought by the global pandemic, from which, we have now recovered and secured higher levels of work compared to pre-pandemic levels. We have gained significant government funding from Innovate UK to develop our Smart Factory concept line of the future with many partners including the AMRC. This has ensured that we remain competitive and profitable and are able to secure more work for the Rugby site. An extensive, award-winning apprenticeship and people development program which is focusing on identifying the skills of the future. 

Over the next two years, Smart Factory line will be fully operational, with further expansion already planned. We will progress our process optimisation plan to reduce costs from the manufacturing processes to expand current and market share and secure new business opportunities. At the core of these activities is our people development strategy which will ensure that we have the right skills in the workforce to meet the future demands of the industry.

A quick learner with good attention to detail.

Experience or passion for any maintenance related tasks (DIY, hobbies, research, interest, etc.) is important.

No specific qualifications but would be helpful if they are passionate about technology, manufacturing, fixing things, understanding how things work, identifying opportunities for improvements, questioning preconceived ideas, etc.
